Living a Man's Life: Risky Business?

Dr. Jacques Moritz interviews Marianne Legato, author of "Why Men Die First: How to Lengthen Your Lifespan".

Dr. Legato describes how men start their struggle for life in-vitro. Males struggle in the womb, being born developmentally behind females. Then, testosterone plays a role in risk-taking activities which may decrease the lifespan. Young boys are especially vulnerable to mortality due to increased testosterone and the likelihood to display life-threatening behaviors.

From her reports, we may better understand men's health issues, and how men can practice life-saving strategies to live longer.

Interesting ideas that shed light on how the numbers add up to suggest that men live shorter lives than women. If you are interested in epidemiology and men's health, you might like this book.
