Prevent colds, flu, disease with proper sneezing and healthy lifestyle habits

Prevent colds and flu and other airborn illness by sneezing correctly. Here is the appropriate way to sneeze. Government officials like Health & Human Services' Kathleen Sebelius aren't the only ones who can teach you how to sneeze effectively, to prevent the spread of disease. Elmo, a favorite Sesame Street character, also knows how to sneeze in the right direction. Watch this video clip, demonstrating your best moves when sneezing:

What else can you do to prevent getting a cold, or flu?
Wash your hands often, especially when you are out in public with many people.
Avoid sick people. They don't have the courtesy to stay home when they are sick, but it doesn't mean that you must be around them. Respect yourself by creating your own healthy space.
Get plenty of sleep. When you lack good-quality sleep, your immune system is compromised. Sleep patterns can change, too, as our daylight time shifts. Make adjustments.
Eat healthy, nutritious foods. Bright-colored vegetables are the nutritional key to disease prevention. Being overweight represents a disease state, and it puts you at risk for more disease, so manage your weight and keep it healthy.
Exercise! Get plenty of exercise to boost your immune system. It is one of the few free, simple, gifts that we can give ourselves to stay healthy. Not only does exercise boost the immune system and prevent disease, but it also aids sleep, improves mood, and relieves stress. If you're sleeping better, feeling happy and stress-free, then your body can optimally resist getting sick!

Germ obsession and Immune system boosting

Are you obsessed with cleaning germs? This video will show common household germ magnets, but read on for some immune-boosting tips afterward:

Good News: She noted "bagless vacuums". If your vacuum has a bag, you will be cleaner.
Bathrooms have been shown to be germ breeding grounds for a long time. This is not news. This is why it's important to avoid touching too many bathroom surfaces after you've washed your hands while you're in a public bathroom.

Can you get too germ-obsessed? ABSOLUTELY! Over-cleaning and using anti-bacterial products are counter-productive for our body's natural defenses. Our bodies need to be allowed to "fend for themselves".

Instead of spending your time obsessing about germ-fighting with products, cleaners and chemicals, turn your efforts to boosting your immune system naturally.
Exercise is one of the best ways to stay healthy and prevent disease.
Eating nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables are also powerful for immunity. Cook with brightly colored produce and limit your meat consumption.
When it's "cold and flu season", you can add herbal supplements to your daily regimen. Liquid tinctures of mushrooms and herbs can keep you well: read the labels for Immune Support properties.

Autism link to vaccinations and metal toxicity: more research and discussion needed!

Vaccines, extra chemicals, heavy metals: What role do these play in autism?

Parents with autistic children want answers. There were theories suggesting that vaccines contributed to the recent steep rise in numbers of children diagnosed with autism. After deeper study, this has shown to be unsubstantiated.

Dr. Manny Alvarez, a parent to an autistic child, analyzes this study in a brief video interview:

Dr. Manny alludes to flu vaccinations and outdated vaccinations, but these areas need further discussion and research. Are flu vaccines being pushed too hard on parents, children, and the general population? Are we inhibiting the body's natural immune response with excessive vaccination?

Exercising out a cold: detox and sweat your sickness away

Is it possible to exercise a cold or flu out of your body? Can sweating and detoxing get rid of sickness? Some doctors think so. Watch this video to figure out if it's the way to relief and better health (then read below for the contraversial other-side to this story!):

Although this approach might get sick folks headed to the gym, Not So Fast!...
In the first stages of being sick, you are highly contagious. Any trip out in public will get others sick. This is especially true in a gym, where you are breathing "stale" (recirculating) air in a confined space, plus you exchange sweat and bodily fluids everywhere.
Also, in the early stages of sickness, your body needs to use its energy to heal. Too often, people get back into exercise without giving their bodies a chance to heal. Instead of feeling better, their cold/flu never goes away. Your energy is now getting diverted to exercise instead of healing. So, you stay sick longer.

Instead of heading to the gym as soon as you can, take some time to rest and recover. If you get back into exercising too soon, you will make others sick and you will stay sick.

Prevent colds and flu with immune system testing

If you could predict when you'd be sick, would you take efforts to prevent it? Would you miss work if your immune system were weak, and vulnerable to sickness?

Dr. Manny describes the new research on cold-testing. You might be able to stay healthier, and keep others from getting sick, too. Watch this video for more ground-breaking diagnostics:

Prevent colds and flu with cleaning

Yes, washing hands and washing surfaces is still the best way to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria. If you want to avoid getting sick with a cold or flu, it is important that you keep your hands clean.

This is especially important to keep in mind when you are in a public place. Sick people, in public, are spreading their germs like wildfire.

If you use hand sanitizers like purse-size gels, make sure you read the directions. Most of them are not effective unless you wipe your hands together rigorously for one minute or more!

Watch this video to understand how germs stay on surfaces and then get spread:

Do not rely on your anti-bacterial soaps to keep you healthy and disease-free! A healthy lifestyle, full of regular exercise and eating nutritious foods, is the key to a strong immune system!
