Prevent intense soreness, muscle pain, and muscle spasms, so you can stay active

Are intense soreness, muscle pain, or muscle spasms impeding your active lifestyle? Read this article to learn why you're getting them, how to treat them when you get them, and how to prevent getting them so you can stay active:

http://ezinearticles.com/?How-to-Prevent-Intense-Soreness,-Muscle-Pain,-and-Muscle-Spasms,-and-Stay-Active&id=1752530

To find out if you have Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, ask yourself these questions:
* Have you done any kind of physical exertion in the last 3-5 days?
* Have you participated in any new activities or sports in the last week?
* Do you engage in repetitive movements, at your work or in your hobbies?
* Have you spent more time lately on any hobbies or sports?

Your muscles can get overworked, even if the activity (or movements) is not new to you. But sometimes the pain and fatigue do not "settle into" your muscles for several days.

Another way to prevent Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness is by getting regular aerobic exercise. Even a brisk walk down the street on your lunch hour is great for relieving sore muscles! Just a short bout of aerobic exercise gives your muscles a boost of oxygen, which helps remove the energy by-products that are causing you to feel sore.

Neck Muscle Spasms? Try heart alignment!

Your neck muscles might be in pain, or locking up in spasms. Have you ever thought about how your heart, your emotions, and your feelings relate to muscle tension? By focusing on your heart, you can take pressure off of your neck muscles, relieving pain and spasms.

You probably did not get that tension overnight, and it probably won't go away immediately, either! So, keep trying these heart-aligning exercises and other healthy lifestyle habits: You Can Feel Relief!

Muscle Pain and Soft Tissue Injury: Is your pain becoming an injury?

We often get muscle pain that we think will go away on its own. Or maybe we'll take care of it "one day", when we have more time, less stress, etc.

Meanwhile, the nagging ache or pain that distracts you may be turning into a more serious injury. Soft tissue injuries can be tough to heal, so it's best to take those muscle pains seriously from early on.

This article describes some of the connections between muscle pain and soft tissue injuries, like Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSIs):

Relieve Burning Arm Pain with exercises

When you feel burning pain, especially in your arms or elbows, that is often a sign of tendonitis. Tennis elbow and golfers' elbow are two kinds of elbow tendonitis. You do not have to be a tennis player or golfer to get these kinds of irritation in the arm and elbow.

When the arm is overworked, it can over-stretch the muscles' tendons. They become inflamed, which is an -itis, and you may develop tendonitis (or bursitis, e.g.).

When muscles are overworked, then often there are corresponding muscles that are getting underworked. They may be pulled taut, or weak.

If you need natural relief from burning arm pain, then Read this article. It shows three specific exercises you can do to feel relief from burning arm pain due to overworked muscles:
http://www.ezinearticles.com/?3-Simple-Exercises-to-Relieve-Burning-Arm-Pain&id=1421621

(Cut and paste the URL into your browser if you need)

With the right guidance, you can often balance muscles with exercise and reduce pain.

*Incoming: Sore Skiers!*

Recent snowstorms, with predictions of snow all week long, are great for skiing conditions in the Aspen valley.

Wet, heavy snow is harder to ski in, so skiers' legs will get sore. If you expect to ski this week in Aspen, here are some ways you can prevent and relieve soreness:
  • Stretch before you put on your gear and head up the hill.
  • Keep drinking Water, while you ski and for days to follow. "If the altitude and fun times don't get ya, the dry air will."

  • Eat mineral-rich foods, with magnesium, potassium, and calcium. Fish, leafy green vegetables, almonds and other nuts are good sources.

  • Get a Massage. In Colorado's Aspen valley, visit Higher Spa in Basalt. Their sports massage therapists will relieve soreness, speed recovery, and get you back in Play mode.

  • If you dare, if you have painfully-burning quads (i.e., your thighs, not the chair-lifts that swoosh skiers up the mountain), take an Ice bath. Yikes...
Spring skiing is fun with fresh snow and warmer temperatures. Practice these tips to prevent soreness, relieve pain, and Have More Fun!
